Poor Trooper! He started as Shorty and wouldn’t leave the chickens alone with someone who took him home. He was passed on and has had a rough life.
Until I got him…HAPPY DOG!! We discussed not chasing chickens and cats, coming when called and he no longer had a reason to chase a truck down the driveway because he had lots of truck rides. He learned to run trail with the horses, the cats came to love him and rub on him, he had big dogs to play tag with and liked to steal their stick and run from them. He lived inside and outside on acreage fenced and not fenced. He went on our trail rides with water crossings and desert sand.
My small grandsons adore him. He’s a very loving dog; he wants attention all the time and butts in if others are getting petted ahead of him. He’s great with lots of strangers and he’s a good watch dog being the first to let me know if someone is on the property. He doesn’t yap and is quiet after giving notice. He’s never been mean.
He’s totally housetrained but a bit of a pig ready to grab any morsel of food he can find or get you to feed him so he’s plump. He’s a good swimmer.
I will be in Sandpoint for another two weeks and will only leave him where I hope he will have a wonderful life. I’m not in any hurry to rehome him.
